Wish clauses I

Hello everybody!

"I wish I had (pasado de have) a dictionary."

"I wish I knew (pasado de know) the answer to question 5." (Ojalá supiera la respuesta a la pregunta 5.)

"I wish we were friends again."

"I wish I were smaller."

"I wish I had studied harder."

"I wish I hadn't gone to the beach."

"I wish I had taken my coat with me." (Ojalá me hubiese traído el abrigo.)

I wish + would + infinitive expresa malestar o enfado por la situación presente y nuestro deseo de que cambie en el futuro. Muy importante: wish + would sólo se usa si hay dos sujetos distintos, por lo que nunca podremos decir " I wish I would... porque aquí los sujetos son iguales (I con wish y I con would). Ejemplos:

"I wish he wouldn't ask me so often during the tests."

"I wish Tony wouldn't drive so fast." (Ojalá Tony no condujera tan rápido.)

"I wish your neighbours would be a little quieter."

See you next week!

¡Bienvenidos!

¡Bienvenidos y bienvenidas a mi blog!
